1 (750ml) bottle of dry red wine
1 orange, sliced into rounds
1 cup whole cranberries
Brown Sugar Cinnamon Simple Syrup
8 whole cloves
2 star anise
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a low simmer over medium heat. Important to simmer and not boil or the alcohol will evaporate.
Once the wine mixture is simmering reduce the heat to low and allow to gently simmer for at least 15 minutes and up to 3 hours.
After 1-3 hours strain mixture and serve or transfer to a slow cooker on low to keep warm until served.
Serve warm with garnish of orange, cranberries and cinnamon stick.
